Why not fly to Orlando for lunch

Fort Lauderdale -Orlando Apopka and back

When my ex colleague Sonny called a few weeks back asking if I would be free for dinner that evening we certainly did not expect to meet again so soon-this time for lunch in Orlando. Here I am in Fort Lauderdale, with my little Cessna from airplanes4rent, David my dear safety pilot for the days and no real plan – so why not head to Orlando and catch up with people I haven’t seen in nearly 10 years!

Heading North along Flirida’s Eastcoast

After taking of RW 09 we head North along the coast and just too often I have to say “your controls” to take pictures or just to enjoy the view. And when we finally turn inland it just doesn’t stop: swamp areas change into orange farms change into lakes change into Disney World, I am in awe about the scenery and how easy it is to take up on US skies! After 2 hrs we arrive-having chosen for the private Apopka airfield (X04) rather than Orlando Executive (plenty of jets to see in KFXE so why bother with them again).

Orlando Apopka (X04)

Much too soon it is time to head back again as we want to avoid night flying and after clocks went back last weekend it turns dark around 6pm already. This time we stay over land only, catching a nice little rain to wash today’s dust off our plane and presenting us with the most amazing sun and rain displays.

And then it rained in Florida

Why did we pick up flying? For days like today I am sure!

Dear Sonny! Thanks for the invitation and hospitality! You have build a great company and a super team around you! I will always hold memories of my first flip flop visit to you guys high-adding yet more fond memories with this little spontaneous trip. Give me a shout when next in Amsterdam!
